Join the College of the Redwoods Board of Trustees

The Redwoods Community College District is seeking a dedicated individual to serve as an appointed member of the Board of Trustees until the next regularly scheduled election on November 3, 2026. This is a rare and meaningful opportunity to guide policy and help shape the future of College of the Redwoods.

Responsibilities of a Trustee:

Board members play a vital role in the governance of the college and are expected to:

  • Participate fully in the work of the board, including attending all meetings, some college events, studying issues and agenda items, and engaging in trustee education programs.
  • Understand and represent the communities served by the college, acting on behalf and for the benefit of those communities.
  • Be committed to community colleges and their mission, with an understanding of educational, social, and economic policy issues.
  • Balance the needs of diverse groups and contribute to building consensus.
  • Function as part of a collaborative board, supporting the authority of the board as a whole.

Key Details:

  • Meeting Schedule: The Board meets the first Tuesday of every month at 1:00 p.m., unless otherwise scheduled.
  • Stipend & Benefits: Trustees receive a $240 monthy stipend and the same health benefits as District employees.
  • Legal Eligibility Requirements:
    • Must be 18 years of age or older.
    • Must be a California citizen.
    • Applicants must reside in the Area they represent. The current vacancy is in Area 2 (view the Trustee Area map here).
    • Must not be disqualified by the Constitution or laws of the state from holding civil office.
    • Must be a registered voter.
